A liner is placed inside a washable nappy and helps make washables as effective and easy as possible You don’t have to use a liner at all, but most washable nappies users would agree that it makes washing your nappies a lot easier and less messy.
Flushable paper liners
These liners are flushable and placed inside the nappy next to your baby’s skin. They let liquid pass through and ‘catch’ solids, meaning you can flush the solids away easily.
When using flushable liners you need to make sure all edges are tucked inside the nappy else they may ‘wick’ liquid from the nappy onto your baby’s clothes.
Warning note
If you are on a septic system or have old or damaged plumbing then it is highly recommended that you simply dispose of these liners in the bin rather than flush them down your toilet. No responsibility can be accepted for damage to individual drain systems.
Fleece liners
These can be washed with your nappies, meaning you are not buying and throwing away paper ones. Fleece liners are great as they wick moisture into the core of the nappy and lock it away from the baby’s skin. Any solid soiling can usually be tipped easily down the toilet.
Fleece liners are perfect at the newborn stage as they protect delicate skin and the soiling is runny anyway so won’t be caught by a flushable liner. Fleece liners also protect the nappy from any staining. Newborn soiling is quite potent!
From about 4 months or when you start weaning, the soiling changes colour and increases in volume. At this stage you can either change to paper liners or keep using fleece ones. Some people use both liners – a fleece liner with a flushable liner on top. Most customers buy some fleece liners and some flushable liners and see how they go.
If the nappy you have chosen to use already has a sewn in stay dry liner then you can choose whether or not to use a separate fleece and/or flushable liner for easy disposal of soiling. Using a separate fleece liner will add further stay dry protection and help protect the nappy from any stains.

Flushable liners (thin) - toddler size (roll of 100)
|
| For most babies, the smaller sized liners will be absolutely fine for the whole of their nappy life. However, if your toddler has explosive runny soiling then you may need more coverage. These larger size paper liners cover more of the nappy and therefore will hopefully catch everything. If you are on a septic system or have old or damaged plumbing then it is highly recommended that you simply dispose of these liners in the bin rather than flush them down your toilet. 22cm x 35cm
